The spring it is icumen in

Saturday was our first sunny day in a long while. The Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis) near the house burst into bloom. The thousands along Federal Twist Road haven't yet shown themselves, but two or three warm days should bring them out. They don't last long.

  1. Chant médiévaux anglais.

The thousands along the road must be a beautiful sight.

  2. Well, Monday was almost hot. Then it rained for two days. So they probably came out and were beaten to death.

Do you know Ezra Pound's parody of "Sumer is icomen in"?

    Winter is icumen in,
    Lhude sing Goddamm,
    Raineth drop and staineth slop,
And how the wind doth ramm!
    Sing: Goddamm.
    Skiddeth bus and sloppeth us,

    An ague hath my ham.

    Freezeth river, turneth liver,
    Damm you; Sing: Goddamm.
Goddamm, Goddamm, 'tis why I am, Goddamm,
    So 'gainst the winter's balm.
    Sing goddamm, damm, sing goddamm,
    Sing goddamm, sing goddamm, DAMM.

  3. I just had to borrow Ezra's wonderful linrd. Since my wife has hung me out to dry on Facebook with bad health due to flu, etc. from all the weather, I'll feel better with this tonic!
