Hawk in Dogwood and Alien Exotics

Sitting in the study overlooking the garden is like being in a tree house. This morning a hawk perched in one of the dogwoods outside the house. He didn't know he was sitting just above alien alliums about to burst into bloom, nor did he care, if hawks care.

  1. Hello James, your blog and pictures are very special! I knew the flower's Cornus in France, in the alpine garden; were one of my favorite plants.
Congratulations by the Honor Awards and Prizes ! I like this qualities of the naturalistic gardens, mixture of nature and garden. We can see the sense of place and quality here.

  2. I wish I could read Portugese. I find your photos of Brasilia, the old botanical prints, and plant photos fascinating, but I can't read a word.

  3. Wow, what a great picture of that hawk. We have a red-tailed hawk that sometimes comes in close, but I have yet to get it on camera.

  4. The hawk was near the new pond, which has frogs in it already. Perhaps looking for frog prey? Or just taking rest?
